After living a “good Christian life” for a number of years, Kathy Escobar realized that she no longer wanted to aim for comfort, rather a “downwardly mobile life”.
Mark Scandrette thinks we ignore some of the most sensational teachings of Jesus because they seem impossible. What could we learn by actually trying to do the things Jesus did and taught?
Where is Christ in the midst of our suffering? Why doesn't God heal us when we ask? Is God really good? These are questions that I have wrestled with as a Christian walking with cerebral palsy. This interview was conducted October 2010 at Church of the Open Door, Maple Grove, MN. Associate Senior Pastor Steve Wiens had me (Jenny Hill) share about my walk with the Lord and with CP. The central premise of the sermon is that character is primarily formed in us through suffering. You can read more on my blog at: https://jwalkinguphill.blogspot.com/
Brokenness is something that all of us face at a point in our lives. It can tear us apart but it can also help us. By understanding the pains of brokenness at a physical, emotional, and spiritual level, we learn more about ourselves and how such circumstances affect our well-being. In turn, these experiences of brokenness can help strengthen us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And it's through our own experiences of brokenness that helps us better relate to others who may be experiencing it. And by caring for that person who is in distress, we help piece back together their life that was shattered by brokenness.
"This video is based on one mans journey from darkness to Light. Tony started selling drugs when he was 15 years old. When he was a teenager his nickname was Tony Montana based on the character in the movie Scarface. At an early age his life became consumed with drugs, alcohol, women, and money. As an adolescent he was exposed to friends being incarcerated, murdered and committing suicide. He is now the founder of Faith Stories Ministries a 501(c)3 nonprofit."
A youth group writes their burdens, fears, and sins on a plank of wood. Then break the wood as a metaphor for breaking the chains that hinder them in their Christian walk.
