Pastor Jon Dunbar: "Resurrection Suffering"

On this Good Shepherd Sunday, Peter describes the Christian's journey through this life as a kind of pilgrimage. We need a guide for that journey and our Good Shepherd is the one who will lead us. One reality that we struggle to make sense of is the suffering that goes on in the world...and when it is encountered, we have to remember that suffering is an "example" that God provides us so that we remember Christ's suffering for our sins and dying on the cross. There will be times when we lose our way and we WILL sin- so we will suffer the consequences of our sins and continue following our Shepherd because he will lead, guide, and keep us in line until we are safely home with our Heavenly Father.

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Days (5-25-14)

Pastor Doug explains our reading from 1 Peter, an Epistle of hope for when everything around us is going wrong.

Pastor Jon Dunbar: "Be A Living Stone!"

Why are you and I here on this earth? We are here to serve our LORD as a Kingdom of priests. As the Mother's Day tornadoes caused widespread destruction in the communities of Beaver Crossing, Cordova, and Sutton, the week since has shown many that we are here to do good works for those in need. In the same manner, it allows us to witness about God's mighty power and proclaim his excellencies...be a living stone of HIS church.

Pastor Richard Gudgel: "Salvation in Jesus, Our LORD"

It is very easy to speak of joyful events in our lives. May we grow in our desire to boldly, yet gently, share our faith with others.

Jolene's First Preach

What is Blind Faith?

Faith is like a bridge that needs to be tested. People often accuse Christians as following with blind faith, but this is incorrect. Jesus is not just a name we woke up with one morning in our own heads and then followed without question. Jesus lived a life recorded in history that was foreshadowed by thousands of years of Hebrew history. His story and claim to be the Son of God has deep historical roots that need to be investigated. What is the Bible, who is God, why are we here? All of these are questions of faith and we need to not be ignorant of them but face them with confidence and honesty. I hope this video will challenge you to consider the truth about Jesus and about faith.

Sinners are not Welcome! New Testament

Ananias and Sapphira were believers who sinned by lying to God and were killed for it ( Acts 5:1-10). The man in I Corinthians 5:1-13 was to be put out of the church for his sin. If this is the result of the sin of believers, then why would the church allow unbelievers in when they are not being presented with the gospel or being called to repentance?
I Cor. 5:6 says that a little leaven will leaven the whole lump. Cross reference verses 9-11 with I John 2:4.
Matthew 18:15-17 outlines the steps to take when confronting a brother who sins against you. If that person does not repent, then that person is to be treated as the man in I Corinthians.
I cor, 6:9-11 and Gal. 5:19-21 states who will not get into heaven. If they will not get in, then why should the church let them in without first requiring repentance? I John 3:8-9 states who is of the devil and who is of God. If a sinner is of the devil, why allow a friend of the devil in our midst?
Remember God is holy and we are to be holy in our conduct,
I Peter 1:15-16.
There are many who make exception for family because of how much they are cared for and loved. We all want the best for our family, but our desire cannot override scripture.
Matthew 10:37-38 challenges us to that end.
Even the Levites put the word of God above ALL else,
Duet. 33:9-11.
So if we love God, we should keep his commandments and put the sinners out!
