Second Lady Usha Vance is set to travel to Greenland this week as President Donald Trump continues to suggest the U.S. could take control of the mineral-rich Artic island.
Her office says Vance will leave Thursday and return Saturday.
The wife of Vice President JD Vance will be part of a U.S. delegation set to “visit historical sites, learn about Greenlandic heritage, and attend the Avannaata Qimussersu, Greenland’s national dogsled race.”
Greenland is a self-governing region of Denmark, a NATO ally of the United States. But Trump has said repeatedly that he thinks the U.S. should take Greenland for strategic and national security purposes.
