Judge restricts ICE arrests at NYC courthouses

A federal judge in New York has ruled that immigration agents can no longer make arrests in or around three Manhattan immigration courthouses without exceptional circumstances. The decision ends a practice that led to numerous arrests of people appearing for immigration proceedings. The judge said federal agents may still make arrests in cases involving serious public safety threats or other extraordinary situations. Immigrants’ rights advocates praised the ruling, while federal officials have not publicly commented on the decision.

WHO Warns of Rapid Spread Of Rare Ebola Variant

The World Health Organization is warning about the rapid spread of a rare Ebola variant in eastern Congo. Health officials say more than 500 cases and at least 131 suspected deaths have been reported as the outbreak continues to grow. The outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, which currently has no approved treatment or vaccine. Officials say the virus has now spread into urban areas, raising fears of additional deaths and possible international spread amid an ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Former O.J. Simpson detective Mark Fuhrman dies at 74

Former Los Angeles police detective Mark Fuhrman has died at the age of 74. Fuhrman became a key figure in the 1995 murder trial of O.J. Simpson after reporting that he found a bloody glove at Simpson’s home. His credibility later came under scrutiny when recordings surfaced of him using racial slurs after he denied doing so under oath during the trial. A coroner in Idaho says Fuhrman died May 12 after living in the state for several years.

NYC's LIRR Service To Resume After Strike Deal

Train service is set to resume on the Long Island Rail Road after union leaders and transit officials reached a deal to end a strike that shut down the nation’s busiest commuter rail system. Commuters across the New York City suburbs still faced another difficult morning rush Tuesday, with trains not returning in time for peak travel hours. The strike began Saturday and marked the first LIRR walkout since 1994. The rail system normally carries about 250,000 riders each weekday between Manhattan, Long Island, Brooklyn, and Queens.

Blanche faces questions over $1.8 billion fund

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is set to testify before Congress for the first time since taking over the Justice Department. Judge Considers Closing Parts of Charlie Kirk Murder Hearing

A Utah judge is deciding whether portions of the upcoming preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson should be closed to the public. Robinson is accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk on a Utah college campus in September 2025. Teens, 17 & 18 Responsible For Deadly Shooting At San Diego Mosque

Three men were killed Monday in a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, the largest mosque in San Diego County. Police say the two suspects, ages 17 and 18, were later found dead inside a vehicle after taking their own lives a few blocks from the scene. Investigators say the search for the teenagers began after one suspect’s mother contacted authorities to report her son was suicidal. San Diego police say the shooting is being investigated as a hate crime.

Iran Sends New Peace Proposal to U.S.

Iran says it has sent a new peace proposal to the United States aimed at ending hostilities across the Middle East. Tehran says the proposal includes lifting sanctions, releasing frozen Iranian funds, and withdrawing U.S. forces from areas near Iran. President Donald Trump says there is now a “very good chance” of reaching an agreement that would limit Iran’s nuclear program. Trump also says he paused planned military strikes against Iran as diplomatic negotiations continue.

San Diego mosque shooting leaves five dead

San Diego police responded Monday afternoon to a deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, where authorities say three men were killed. Officer Anthony Carrasco says police initially responded to reports of an active shooter and believed multiple people had been shot. Aerial footage showed a heavy police presence surrounding the mosque, which is located in a residential neighborhood about nine miles north of downtown San Diego. Police sources say both suspects involved in the shooting are also dead. The Islamic Center says it is the largest mosque in San Diego County and its campus includes the Al Rashid School, which offers courses in Arabic language, Islamic studies and the Quran.

Gunfire Erupts At San Diego Islamic Center, Active Shooter

San Diego police are responding to an active shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Officer Anthony Carrasco says they believe people have been shot. Aerial television footage showed a heavy police presence outside the mosque Monday afternoon. The mosque is in a heavily residential neighborhood about 9 miles north of downtown San Diego. Its website says it is the largest mosque in San Diego County. The campus includes the Al Rashid School, which the website says offers courses in Arabic language, Islamic studies and the Quran.
