Disney said "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will return to its ABC network lineup on Tuesday, six days after it suspended the talk-show host following threats by the Federal Communications Commission chairman over comments the host had made about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
In announcing the decision to bring Kimmel back to the airwaves, ABC's parent company said it had suspended production of the show "to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country."
The Disney statement went on to say the company felt some of Kimmel's comments in question "were ill-timed and thus insensitive."
However, after further discussions with the ABC late-night host, "we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday," Disney said.
A man accused of trying to assassinate Donald Trump at his Florida golf course last year has chosen not to testify in his own defense. Representing himself, Ryan Routh on Monday wrapped up his case by questioning a firearms expert and two character witnesses. Prosecutors say he spent weeks plotting to kill Trump. A Secret Service agent testified that he spotted the man and fired, causing him to flee. Routh has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted assassination and assaulting a federal officer. Closing arguments are set for Tuesday.

A man charged in a fatal shooting at a New Hampshire country club is set to make an initial court appearance Monday. Authorities say patrons at a restaurant acted quickly and selflessly to stop a gunman who opened fire while a wedding was taking place at a New Hampshire country club, averting a worse tragedy. They say one person was killed and two others were wounded by the gunfire Saturday night before the suspect was taken into custody in a nearby neighborhood not long after the shooting. Authorities say gunfire killed 59-year-old Robert DeCesare Jr. at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua. Witnesses at the scene say someone struck the shooter with a chair in an attempt to subdue him.
