1K Phew pays homage to the “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin, with his latest release. Entitled “Aretha,” the Atlanta native commands respect over a hard-hitting trap instrumental. The song marks his second single of the year, following March’s gospel rap anthem “All I Need.”
“These days, there’s a real lack of respect. Sometimes you gotta spell it out for people — literally,” 1K Phew says. “That’s what I did with ‘Aretha.’ I want people to understand that you gotta give respect to get it. It’s bigger than a song — it’s a message we all need right now.”
