The Decalogue: Honoring God

Southside Baptist Church
October 11, 2015 - Evening Service
Exodus 20:7-11

Summary: A few weeks ago, we began studying the Decalogue, seeking to understand the Commandments as being more than rules, but being a guide for living in relationship with God. As we continue in our study, we explore how being in relationship with God comes with some level of responsibility in how we relate to Him directly, how we relate to Him through His creation, and in our own lives.

Inside-Out Christians: I WILL Not Be a Church Dropout

Southside Baptist Church
October 11, 2015 - Morning Service
1 Corinthians 12:12-26

Summary: As we continue our exploration of the meaning of being the Body of Christ, we take a look at some words of encouragement written to a church in the midst of division and struggle. As we look at the words given to Corinth, we consider what it means to be dedicated and committed to church.

1 Corinthians 5:8 - 6:5

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?

Acts 18:9-21

9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: 10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city. 11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. 12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat, 13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law. 14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you: 15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters. 16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.

Judgement and Discernment

2 Samuel 12:1-7
Oh how we get caught in a web of evil when we lose our minds and choose sin. But oh how God saved us from our sins in the most loving and selfless choice of all. Pastor John takes us through the fall and rise of David this week to learn how sin began to destroy the greatest of kings this world has ever known.
