Exodus 17:1-16

And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink. 2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD? 3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? 4 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

Pastor Bishop Helsley
Isaiah 61:10 - 62:3

Summary: Isaiah speaks about the coming of the Year of the Lord, which we later learn to be the Coming of Christ. In the reality of Christ being a part of our lives, are we prepared to be bold in sharing that gift with others?

Advent: A Light in Dark Places

Southside Baptist Church
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Thursday, December 24, 2015
Pastor Bishop Helsley
Isaiah 9:2-7

Summary: As we light the final candle of the Advent Wreath, we take a moment to consider what the introduction of light does to the darkness. Jesus said that He is the Light of the World, and with the coming of Christ, everything is changed.

WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING - 2015-12-27

PSALM 2:11

New Life

Ezekiel 11:16-25
How will I handle the trials coming in the New Year? We say that we love God and we come to church because we love God, but the way we live doesn't reflect that we love God...
God is saying that yes he does love us and he is going to punish Israel to turn them back to me. The only way God can pull you back to him is to put you through a trial to get you back to him.

When you are weak is when God is strong. You need that new life to make you strong. One way to know you need help is to flunk a test. We don't control anything. Your life is not in your hands. God has placed a lot of love in you to get through the past and leave it in the past. People lie because we think that God would not love us if we told the truth.

Ezekiel 12:16-20
But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking, and drink thy water with trembling and with carefulness; And say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord God of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with astonishment, that her land may be desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein.

Christmas His(story)

We can share and tell of who God is. Isaiah prophesied of his coming 100s of years before the birth of Christ Jesus. There is no other person in history that is written about as much as Jesus Christ.

Josephus: a historian. 1 century, same time as Jesus.

Tacitus.

Suetonius

Matthew 1:17
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

Matthew 1:20
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 1:23-25
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

12-27-15 MESSAGE׃ “The Message Of Christ IS Christ!“

Many try to suggest that Jesus Christ had a message focused on love, charity, justice, etc. But what was the real focus of the message of Christ? HE WAS! This is a powerful and inspirational message for all who seek a better understanding of why Christ came and what He was trying to accomplish...

"Waiting for Good News"

We wait for news everyday- both good and bad. Christmas reminds us that we don't have to wait for good news-with the birth of Jesus, we know that our God reigns!

"Let All Together Praise Our God"

Pastor Rich Gudgel reminds us that we can experience peace by obeying the law of God and recognizing the salvation that has been prepared for us in the birth of Jesus.

1 Corinthians 10:21-29

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. 24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. 25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: 26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.
