From time to time you hear modern Christians defending careerism for women by claiming that Proverbs 31 portrays a career woman, rather than a homemaker, so it must be alright for them to leave the home and have a career. This liberal excuse for abandoning biblical gender roles should be seen for the error that it is. Here I go through the major passage about the Proverbs 31 woman verse by verse, and show clearly that it presents a homemaker, which is well in line with the New Testament teachings that women should keep the home. Proverbs 31 Woman and Her Latchkey Kids

From time to time you hear modern Christians defending careerism for women by claiming that Proverbs 31 portrays a career woman, rather than a homemaker, so it must be alright for them to leave the home and have a career. This liberal excuse for abandoning biblical gender roles should be seen for the error that it is. Here I go through the major passage about the Proverbs 31 woman verse by verse, and show clearly that it presents a homemaker, which is well in line with the New Testament teachings that women should keep the home.
