The apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians that we should rejoice in the Lord because that is the one unshakeable and unchanging source for us to find joy. ..even when events in our lives are not going as we had planned. And when we see our lives IN the Lord, we will understand that we lack for nothing.

How are we like the Pharisees who asked Jesus if it was right to pay Caesar's tax? We are a compromised people who have lost our way...impoverished in the Word of God. Humans who traded all the treasures of Eden for the allure of forbidden things. Pastor Dunbar describes how Jesus offers each one of us the treasures of Mercy, righteousness, and faithfulness that lead to eternal life in heaven with God our Father.

Today we are celebrating All Saints Sunday and the faithful who have departed before us. The apostle John writes about the idea of living on the threshold between heaven and earth. His words were not dark or morbid...but rather filled with life, hope, and deep joy because we are God's children NOW!
