Wish I Was (Willow Tree)

This video uses a version of Mickie Newbury's 'I Wish I Was' which is more classical instrumentally. Add the Leon Russel / Doctor John style vocal of Erik Mischke you get a very unique combination of styles.. The use of dynamics allowed for a one take recording. The original song had only been heard by Erik Mischke. The band jammed it a few times and made some arrangement changes and proofed it at a couple of gigs. That led to a very productive recording session with several more songs being recorded that day.
The Vortex Navigators are: GARTH WILWAND; vocal, piano. ERIK MISCHKE; vocal, guitar. DAVID DUGGAN;vocal, bass. GORDON ROBB; drums.
