What is the greatest gift you can offer God? It isn’t your money, your talents, or even your service. It’s you.

Romans 12:1 calls believers to present their bodies as a living sacrifice—holy and acceptable to God. This act of surrender is described as our “reasonable service.” In other words, in light of God’s mercy, offering ourselves fully to Him is the natural response of a grateful heart.

The rich young ruler walked away from Jesus because he wasn’t willing to let go. His possessions revealed something deeper—he hadn’t surrendered himself. God’s desire has not changed. He does not want partial access to your life. He wants your heart, your will, your plans, and your future.

Surrender means placing everything on the altar—your ambitions, relationships, fears, and expectations. It means trusting that God’s plan is better than your own, even when you don’t understand it. It means believing that the One who created you also knows how to lead you.

Throughout Scripture, God used ordinary people who made themselves available—Mary, Moses, the disciples. None were perfect. All were willing. The same invitation stands today: be available.

Surrender is not a one-time event. It is daily obedience. It is choosing God’s way over your own, even when it costs something. But surrender is not loss—it is alignment. It positions you to live fully within God’s purpose.

Only what is done for Christ will endure. When you offer yourself to Him, you are investing in what lasts forever.

Peacemaking requires bravery (Iran) There is an Irish legend about two feuding clans in medieval Ireland- the O’Neills and the O’Donnells. For generations, they were locked in a bitter cycle of attack and retaliation. Mortal enemies. Eventually, one chieftain decided the bloodshed had to end. He went to his enemy’s stronghold. Instead of arriving with soldiers at his back, he came alone. He pushed his bare arm through the gate and called out, “Here is my hand. You may cut it off, or you may take it in peace.” The other chieftain chose to grasp the hand, and the decades-long feud ended. The story reminds me of a hard lesson from human history we seem to forget: the fruit of cooperation is peace, and the wages of domination are destruction. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Peacemaking is not weak, passive, or easy. More than once, Jesus reminded those with ears to hear that the right path is rarely the easy one. As those Irish chieftains demonstrated, it involves stepping into conflict, working toward reconciliation, repairing broken relationships, and the courage to seek justice and restoration. It often involves restraint. True warriors understand this better than anyone. Life is full of struggles, difficulties, and seasons of loss and disappointment. Instead of crying out and saying, "Why God," blaming Him for the difficulties, or being upset that He would allow them, I have learned to cling to Him despite them. I now choose to trust His promises, like Romans 8.28-29.

My faith has been challenged over the years with the loss of my mother in 2017, and I found that what I thought was a fickle faith and an unstable relationship with God was just my faith being challenged in ways that I hadn't imagined before. I can now say years later, my faith is stronger than ever, and thanks to my mom for that. She left a legacy of love, hope, and light, which she built on her relationship with God and her belief in Heaven.
